Swedish couturière of gloves Thomasine Barnekow lives and works between her family's estate Sinclairsholm in Skåne, and the historical heart of Paris. Graduating in conceptual product design at Li Edelkoort’s Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands and selected as a talent at the Italian fashion competition ITS#SIX introduced her to a career within the French luxury glove industry. Barnekow started her brand in 2008 with Isetan in Tokyo as first client. Barnekow revives the function of gloves, exploring ideas and possibilities inspired by the worlds of fashion and architecture. Nature is a constant source of inspiration for shapes and structures. The collection of accessories for the hands is full of surprises – combinations of material, twists and fastenings that show off her technical understanding and attention to fine craftsmanship. In 2016, Barnekow was invited to curate the solo exhibition 'Rendez-Vous au Jardin d’Hiver' that celebrated her ten years of designing and making gloves. A traveling exhibition, that is a testimony of the challenge to inspire a traditional craftsmanship – to create a new dream of gloves. The French luxury association Centre du Luxe et de la Création nominated her in 2018 to 'Talent of Innovation' for her design work.

About the project

" « A SONG FOR LOUIS » is a treasure box like a bird cage that could have kept a beautiful song bird, but where the Louis Vuitton Maison recycled leather structure by itself becomes a visual melody for the eyes."
