Founded by Luke Halls, Luke Halls Studio is a multi-disciplinary moving image design studio specialising and working within music, opera, theatre, art, dance and live performance. Opera work includes Don Giovanni (The Royal Opera House), Otello (Metropolitan Opera) and Carmen (Bregenz Lake Stage). Theatre work includes West Side Story (Broadway Theatre), Ugly Lies The Bone, The Lehman Trilogy (National Theatre) and The Nether (Royal Court). Halls has worked prolifically for music artists, creating video designs and animation for tours by Adele, Beyoncé, Pet Shop Boys, U2 and Rihanna, among others.
About the project
"This is an abstraction of our travel, memories and experienced time. These notions bleed over the trunk, interpreting and presenting a journey to embark upon through our creative process. As we look inside our vessel, our memories build, brimming full as we emanate and collect, contemplating futures whilst reflecting on the past. A reflection of places we’ve seen, and experiences we’ve had. As these continue to grow, we send the viewer through a maze of shifting perspectives and changing volumes, playing with this shift to reflect embodied thoughts and feelings. Our specific palette of colours light up and absorb into the trunk, creating harmonious dimensions only to redefine them with bright, saturated graphics inspired by the rising and setting of the sun. We start to create our own conjugations of past, present and future, serving a model of embodied time and experience at our studio."
